The Saguaro Sabercat Marching Band is one of the premier performing ensembles at Saguaro High School. The marching band performs at ALL Varsity Football games (both home and away), competes in ABODA Marching Band Festivals, parades throughout the year, and at public events such as corporate luncheons and business openings. The band also plays at a variety of school events from Freshman Night, to Pep Rallies. Marching Band students perform more in their first 2 months than they do in all of their years leading up to high school. 

The concert bands are the core of the Saguaro Band Program. The skills that are developed in the concert band classes (Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble) will be essential to student success, not just in band, but in other parts of the student’s lives. We believe strongly that success is a habit, and our philosophy of “Teaching Success in a Culture of Excellence” is seen in action during the concert band classes. Students who wish to be in the Wind Ensemble class are required to take marching band, but Symphonic Band students have the option to be a part of the marching band or not.

The concert bands perform multiple times a year. Our Fall Concert features the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band and Mohave Middle School band. The Holiday/Winter Concert is done in conjunction with the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser. The Spring and Final Concerts feature the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Bands.

Once marching band ends, our Zero Hour changes over to Jazz Band. The Saguaro Sabercat Jazz Band is divided into two parts, Jazz Gold and Jazz Black, and is made up of traditional jazz instruments and gives the Saguaro band students the opportunity to explore various jazz styles and improvisation. Each year the Jazz Band performs at the Spring and Final Concerts, and has its own unique event Jazz and Chocolate. This annual fundraiser not only provides the Saguaro Band program with much needed funding, but it also gives the Jazz Band students the experience of performing in a club type of environment. This event takes place at Saguaro High School and it is well attended each year.
